l Edge, mow and fertilize the lawn. Reseed sparse areas. This can be during spring.
l Trim hedges, weed lawns and flowerbeds, and prune trees. Cut back overgrown shrubbery. This can also be in the spring.
l Reseal cracks in foundation, steps, walkways, walls and patios. Especially on edges of the property and the sidewalks. Garage slabs and sidewalks. Power-wash the exterior.
l Clean and align gutters and downspouts; clean the chimney. Make sure you are very careful when you climb the roof.
l Remove oil stains from driveway and garage. Keep walks and driveway swept or free of ice.
l Wash the windows inside and out. This should be down al least once every season.
l Hire a cleaning service to thoroughly clean the interior. or if you like to save some money, do it yourself but will probably take you 2-3 days depending the size of your home.
l Paint the walls and ceilings off white, beige or light gray.
l Repair cracks, holes and damage to plaster, wallboard, wallpaper, paint, and tiles.
l Replace damaged window panes, moldings and woodwork.
l Repair drippy faucets and showerheads. Unclog slow drains.
l Shampoo carpets, scrub and wax linoleum or wood floors. If the carpet is too dirty..it's better to replace it.
l Clean out the fireplace and lay some logs in it.
l Mend torn screens. Clean out all window tracks.
l Replace burned-out light bulbs. Use brighter light bulbs.
l Renail creaking boards or stairs; lubricate squeaking doors.
l Clean all appliances (especially refrigerator and oven).
l Replace old toilet seats and shower curtains. This is a no brainer.
l Clear all cobwebs from corners and doorways.
l Wash all light switches, handrails and doorknobs.
These are all small details and can be done by yourself.
